Who is TCCDC?

Our Mission

“Facilitate community development by implementing a comprehensive approach to community economic development that includes business development, housing, commercial development, technical assistance and training, youth development programs and community outreach services.”

History

The Tunica County Community Development Coalition was incorporated as a non-profit organization in the state of Mississippi in April 1992. The Coalition initially started as a group of thirty volunteers working on a special youth development program with the Kaiser Foundation throughout the state of Mississippi.

In 1993, the Coalition targeted housing issues as a primary need for Tunica County. The State of Mississippi soon designated the Coalition as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO). In the same year the Coalition received the federally funded HOME Investment Partnership Program housing grant in the amount of $500,000 to strengthen partnership between public and private agencies and provide affordable housing in local communities.

In 2004, the Coalition increased its scope of service by establishing a Small Business Division to assist small business owners by providing training and technical assistance. Under the small business program TCCDC in 2007 implemented the Youth Entrepreneur Program to students interested in starting their own business and learning the skills necessary to be successful Entrepreneur.
